What's In A Name?
If you don't have a domain name, get one. The one word TLDs are gone, but there are still many domains available that are very brandable. Keywords in a domain name are good, but branding is important too.
The Whois information is important if you want to try and buy an already registered domain. It also gives the creation date of the domain name; an important factor to many large search engines, such as Google.
Google sees older domains as more trustworthy, less likely to be a fly-by-night, and generally more reliable. The debate is whether just the age of the domain is important or if there needs to be some old links and content on the site.
